Horta - Guinardó

It is the third largest district in Barcelona, after Sants-Montjuïc and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, covering 1192 hectares and with over 170,000 inhabitants.

The name of the district combines two different historical and urban realities. On one hand, there is the former municipality of Horta, and on the other hand, there is Guinardó, which was a territory urbanized late and did not correspond to a legal administrative entity, as part of it belonged to the former municipality of Sant Martí de Provençals and another part to Sant Andreu de Palomar.

It can be said that the district is divided into two parts: in the north, in the high part of the mountain, are the nuclei that currently form the Vall d'Hebron, such as Sant Genís dels Agudells, Montbau, la Vall d'Hebron, la Teixonera, la Clota, el Carmel, la Font d'en Fargues, and the old core of Horta; in the lower part are the neighborhoods of Guinardó and Guinardó baix. It could be said that a defining element of the district is its mountainous character.

NEIGHBORHOODS OF HORTA-GUINARDÓ: El Baix Guinardó, Can Baró, El Guinardó, La Font d'en Fargues, El Carmel, La Teixonera, Sant Genís dels Agudells, Montbau, La Vall d'en Hebron, La Clota, and Horta.
